Garrity DTC Clicker Workshop

I’m very behind on the blog again. So much so that I cant even remember what results we got at the last few shows so I’m going to have to sit down and go through my record books and catch up.

Last weekend I taught a clicker workshop for the club I work for, Garrity DTC. It was very well attended and everyone enjoyed themselves, so much so that we’ve already got another booked for the 17th July and the places are filling up fast already.

All dogs in the beginner group hadn’t done much clicker work before but both handlers & dogs were keen and they picked it up really quickly. We did some basic work focusing on lead work, targetting, obediencey stuff, some basic tricks and proprioception (body awareness). It was great fun, especially as 4 out of the dogs were beagles - great fun!

In the intermediate/advanced group we worked on progressing them on targeting, attention work & gait in heelwork, polishing off some obediencey bits, sending around an object and some retrieve & hold work.

Pip came with me as my official demo girl – showing the aim of the finished exercise and doing a little demo of what we’d be working on next to progress it all further. She also showed off her freetime skills, always a crowd pleaser.

So a huge huge well done to everyone who attended. Thank you all for making it such an enjoyable day - you were all such a pleasure to teach. We also managed to raise £37 from cake sales to go to Betsys charities; AHT & Staffy Rescue.

Let there be cake!

Hopefully the workshop on the 17th will be just as sucessful. I'm looking forward to it already.
